Hanan Relief Group Announces Planned Leadership Transition and Reaffirms Commitment to Its Mission

Hanan Relief Group (HANAN) is currently navigating a planned leadership transition as part of the organization's ongoing commitment to strong governance, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

Over the past year and a half, nonprofit organizations across the country, including HANAN, have experienced significant funding reductions and financial uncertainty. Throughout this period, the organization has remained committed to serving its communities while navigating a rapidly changing environment.

The Board of Directors recognizes that periods of challenge require strong, adaptive, and forward-looking leadership. After careful consideration of the organization's current circumstances and future needs, the Board determined that this planned leadership transition was in the best interest of the organization and its long-term mission. This decision was made with the goal of ensuring continued stability, responsible stewardship of resources, and alignment with HANAN's strategic priorities.

For clarity, the Executive Director position was established in 2023 and remained in place until this recent leadership transition.

HANAN's growth and achievements have been made possible through the collective efforts of staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and community supporters who have worked together over many years to advance the organization's mission. The Board remains grateful for all those who have contributed to the organization's impact and success.

HANAN's programs and services will continue uninterrupted as the organization remains steadfast in its commitment to serving vulnerable communities.

The organization will also continue its strong collaboration with our partners, donors, grantors, government agencies, stakeholders, volunteers, and supporters, whose partnership remains essential to the work and mission of HANAN.

The Board of Directors remains confident in HANAN's future and grateful for the continued trust and support of its donors, partners, volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders. Together, we will continue advancing HANAN's mission and ensuring that the organization remains a strong and effective resource for the communities it serves.

Hanan Relief Group Announces Leadership Update

Hanan Relief Group is currently navigating a planned leadership transition. Sheila Badwan is no longer with the organization. We appreciate her contributions and dedication during her time with Hanan Relief Group and wish her all the best in her future endeavors and next opportunities.

Effective immediately, Sausan Naji has been appointed as Interim Director of Operations and Compliance. In this role, Ms. Naji provides organizational leadership and ensures continuity across HANAN's programs, partnerships, and compliance responsibilities as we move forward.

Ms. Naji will work in close collaboration with board members Dr. Hashim Zaibak, Dr. Mansoor Mirza, and Maysoon Ahmad to strengthen HANAN's operational structure and long-term sustainability.

Hanan Relief Group remains fully committed to the values that have always guided our work: integrity, accountability, transparency, and serving the vulnerable and underserved communities who depend on us. This transition does not affect our programs or our relationships with the partners and funders we are proud to work alongside.
